Volunteer with Envision!

Want to do something more exciting and rewarding with your lunch hour? Envision is looking for dynamic volunteers to support and inspire 16-19 year olds in schools and colleges in Bristol. The Envision programme aims to challenge the perception that young people are apathetic and disengaged by supporting them to design and implement their own social and environmental projects on issues that are important to them - such as homelessness, climate change, crime, and healthy eating. We need enthusiastic volunteers who can really help these teenagers to make a positive difference to their community and themselves - by developing their skills, awareness, confidence and motivation. Envision provides all the training and support - all you have to do is give us a 2 hours a week between now and April , usually at lunch time. Sound interesting?

The Experience

"You may be mentoring a team on your own, or with another mentor but your Envision Coordinator (a member of Envision staff) will support you for the first few weeks to ensure you get settled, which is great. During sessions with students, you will be supporting them to develop a project on an issue they are passionate about. The sessions are varied; you may find yourself running an ice breaker or game, researching issues, helping students plan an event, or provoking discursive ideas. The variety is great, at all times the sessions are stimulating, entertaining and above all, rewarding." - Kate Weiler, Team Mentor 2009-2010
