Agreed.
Peter Main and Jackie Norman are not receiving minutes.
5.1.4 Focus group times are wrong. See leaflet for correct times.
5.5.1 Russell Horsey not Hawson.
7 Budget: typo, too much showing to BCP.

4 Matters arising

1.8 Additional website links: done.

5 Project Updates

5.1 Community Action Plan

5.2.1 Response to the two drop-in events (and piggy-backed-events) has been disappointing so far. However, last leaflets will not be delivered until w/c 9th April.

5.2 Respect

5.3.1 The youth workers continue to do good work in the area, challenging ideas & behaviour around the carrying of weapons and racist language.
5.3.2 YWs have helped young people to prepare a funding application to finance a skateboarding project at Wicklea. Missed the end of the '06-'07 financial year, but the application automatically rolls-over to the fy '07-'08.
5.3.3 Future of Soccer Skills project now appears much rosier. S Pearce has received offer of funding with possibility of more to come.

5.3 Wicklea Shadow Management / Young Bristol

5.4.1 DW presentation to Council backed by members of all parties. It appeared to go down well.
5.4.1 Peter Main reports that Les Compton says lease contract between BCC and Young Bristol agreed in principle.
5.4.2 BCC will fund 2 nights youth work per week.
5.4.3 BCC also to fund youth services over 3 years.
5.4.4 YB will not sign contract until they receive assurances that roads will not cross site.
5.4.5 Ann Stobbs reports (from Jo Weenink) that more courses/funding available at BEC/CLC and Wicklea, assuring continuity of community usage.
5.4.6 Extended Schools Partnership to go on agenda for May meeting.
5.4.7 Break-in at Wicklea last weekend (via roof & crows-nest office?). Damage not known.

5.4 Nightingale Valley

5.4.1 The fly-tipping small-holder has moved on and taken his fencing with him. Some remediation work has benn planned and more land is now accessible to the public.
5.5.2 Someone (perhaps well-intentioned) keeps interfering with the silt-trap. Andy is trying to sort this—perhaps with signs?

5.5 St Anne's Park

5.5.1 Concerns over future of Tennis Courts, Bowls club plan to use for parking?

5.6 Website

5.7.1 Two new web resources have come to our notice.
5.7.2 “Our Brislington” is giving unsolicited and inaccurate publicity and information. We may need to disclaim this.
5.7.3 A new (Yorkshire based) service is being set up, we may join this network of community groups.
5.7.4 Local schools wish to link to BCP website—approved.

6 Planning Applications

6.1 Hollybush Inn. Archaeological explorations have shown this to be a site of national significance. This will delay the development by at least 12 months.
6.2 Flats at Queensdown/Runswick Rd. There are parking/traffic concerns with this application—too many dwellings.
6.3 Latimer Close. There has been a significant failure of consultation in this matter, evidenced by communications between Louise & Simon Bale and Barbara Lewis & Peter Begley. Developers have ignored local community. Advent of Bristol NPN should help produce more effective involvment.
6.4 Rochester Rd. The old Children’s home development. Two more flats and a 3-bedroomed property. S106 planning-gain money for St Annes. This is the 5th application so far for this site.

7 Budget

Theresa Driscoll reported

8 AOB

8.1 Bank Stores (corner of Langton Rd) has applied for an off-sales license. There is a concern regarding the appropriateness of this given proximity to Wicklea. AP to write to licensing authorities stating concerns.
8.2 SP gave details of APAG Funday in Arno's Vale Park on 8th July. There is an event in Castle Park on the 7th July.
8.3 Corporate Status. There is a logjam here. There's lots of advice, nobody is prepared to do it for us. AP to action, form-fill etc.
8.4 Does anybody know of any Walking groups in the area? Living Rivers may be able to help as they organise the Brislington Brook walks.

Date of next meeting: 14th May 2007, 7pm
