MINUTES

1 Welcome, apologies and introductions

5 Project Updates

5.1 Community Action Plan

5.2.1 All focus group meetings have been completed. Meetings have built momentum and have been successful. Results of focus groups to feed into final CAP report.
5.2.2 Ann Stobbs and BEC currently finishing printing interim report for distribution to service providers.
5.2.3 CAP group has successfully attracted interest from local media and some interviews conducted.
5.2.4 The next stage is to analyse the focus group results and draw up working groups from people who contributed their details, for first meeting in mid-summer.

5.2 Respect

5.3.1 Broomhill/St Anne's dispersal order is now finished and many young people are attending the project.
5.3.2 St Peter's Church has started a self-defence course for women.
5.3.3 Church bus looking into funding
5.3.4 There will be an AYA bus in Broomhill in June
5.3.5 Basketball coaching continues at Wicklea.
5.3.6 June 20 is Connexions/Every Child Matters 'roadshow' day. Wicklea and ESP trying to get young people involved. Ann Stobbs working with Sally Carter to see if CAP activities adaptable.
5.3.7 Action: AP to send thank you letter to SP.
5.3.8 23 May gang awareness training at Wicklea.

5.3 Wicklea Shadow Management / Young Bristol

5.4.1 Computer courses, First Aid and English running to schedule
5.4.2 Bristol Evening Post is planning to run an article based on Wicklea's problems.

5.4 Nightingale Valley

5.5.1 AG cleaning the silt trap and reorganised materials.
5.5.2 AG considering using volunteers but is wary of taking on too many helpers.
5.5.3 PM updates the Wicklea situation. Barry Parsons and Joanne Mellors have produced an internal report, to be circulated. PM to request copy under Freedom of Information Act. PM and JN to lobby for this to be a political decision rather than an officers' decision. Report contains BCP and councillor views, plus views of Young Bristol and Community Development. However, Corporate Services may still recommend an access road and sale of the land.

6 Planning Applications

6.1 AP reported on planning applications pending for both Wards. No BCP action required.

7 BESP

7.1 AS reported on her change of role from representing BEC to management role in BESP.
7.2 Brislington Extended Schools Partnership builds on the 5 core offers.
7.3 Brislington known for having a strong community group
7.4 Action: AS to discuss with heads of schools the possibility of writing letter to BCC to say that unless Young Bristol can have Wicklea then BESP can't deliver its core offers.
7.5 PM says that letter from BESP and Children's Services and Learning Communities Team would be beneficial.
7.6 Action: Once AS speaks with Heads, AP to draft a letter.

8 Budget

9 AOB

9.1 AP tables Memorandum and Articles for change to Company Limited by Guarantee. Agreed to proceed with lawyers.
9.2 DW tables new local business magazine and group discusses merits of being involved. Agreed to look at first issue and decide.
9.3 LB tabled On My Doorstep as another marketing tool to look at.
9.4 TD discusses ITV People's Lottery Grant. While this year's grant and deadline are unworkable for BCP, TD will look into financial planning for next year.
9.5 BL mentions that on 16 June Friends of Eastwood Farm are organising Pondomania.
9.6 VM asks how parks issues will progress. He will take this up with Peter Begley.
9.7 CL suggests that Avon Park Funday considers a Dog Show event.
9.8 DW reads letter of thanks from Peter Begley for time on BCP. Action: AP to write thanks in return to PB.
