5 Project Updates
5.1 St Anne's Park
5.1.1 No report.
5.2 Community Action Plan
5.2.1 Interim reports have been posted out or delivered to officers/service providers. We now await responses before proceeding to next stages of setting up working groups and producing final report.
5.3 Respect
5.3.1 The Dispersal Areas conditions ended at the end of April. The actions relating to the areas continue.
5.3.2 Football and Skateboard projects have secured further funding. Extent of funding for skateboard project presently unknown.
5.3.3 SC reports that the BYCA bid has been successful and that various activities will run (kayaking/canoeing, caving, climbing etc.).
5.3.4 AS & SC report that the YPS/ESP/Connexions road-show event was well-supported (70-80 YP attended) and gained very positive feedback from all. Excellent reports, "best in the city yet"! A previously banned individual caused a small disturbance at the end of the evening.
5.3.5 It is proposed that the AYA youth bus should attend Eastwood Park from 7-9pm. There is some concern that disturbance from noise (generators) may result along with there being some parking difficulties. After a discussion it was proposed to try it out for two weeks to suck-and-see.
5.3.6 The self-defence classes at St Peters were both popular and well supported, they finished last week. Participants were working towards a Bronze award and it is proposed to run a photography project (also at St Peters) during the summer to aid progress to these awards.
5.3.7 We need to address the issue of continuation revenue funding for the Respect Project. SP to look into.
5.4 Wicklea Shadow Management
5.4.1 Co. Ltd. by guarantee. No report.
5.4.1 Village Green application. No report.
5.4.2 Courses. Computer, First Aid and Dinner-lady training have been run and have gone well. It is hoped to run some or all of these again in the future. ESOL finishes tomorrow, it is hoped to run this again in September.
5.4.3 This has been a successful year for getting more people into Wicklea.
5.4.4 PM reported discussion with Joanna Mellors. BCC appear to have abandoned plans for an access route past Wicklea to the land at the rear of the building. BCC have agreed 25-yr. lease of Wicklea to Young Bristol. YB may need to seek longer in light of the poor condition of the building and the additional outlay that this will entail in repair works.
5.5 Nightingale Valley
5.5.1 All is well in the valley. YP have been cutting immature trees to make their own bridges. Boredom strikes yet again.
5.5.2 Due to the recent wet weather the pond is now very full!
5.5.3 BL reported that the Pond Day at Eastwood Farm was well attended and went well.
5.6 Website
5.6.1 Joules reports she is receiving minutes etc for the web-site now, also other stuff—much of it planning related. This she will forward to AP & SP.
5.7 APAG
5.7.1 Five-a-side goal posts were erected in Arno's Court Park on the 8th June, they are being well used and this has resulted in a reduction in the amount of football being played in Hampstead Rd and St Christopher's car park.
5.7.2 APAG Fun Day is 8th July, all are welcome. RM volunteered to help man the information stand and spread the BCP message.
6 Planning Applications
6.1 Apartments at Queensdown Gardens refused.
6.2 Sub-division at 5 Church Road refused.
6.3 Bristol Neighbourhood Planning Network (BCP is a member) are consulting with Dept. of Communities & Local Govt. via South-West Planning Aid on the new Planning White Paper. This is a significant opportunity to influence the policy of national government.
7 BESP
7.1 A consultation questionnaire and "dot" exercise similar in style to those carried out for the CAP was performed at the YPS road show. The results mirror those from the adult consultation.
7.2 On 22nd June Brislington schools councils gave presentations (by students) and held discussions in BCC Council Chamber. The YP were impressed and impressive.
