Kay and Tim presented their report of recent activities. They are clearly in regular contact with a large number of YP in the Brislington area. They now have "business cards" to give YP they meet.
Kay and Tim have helped YP to fill applications for funding to Youth Opportunities Fund & Youth Capital Fund for the proposed skateboard project. The intention is that this should run for a minimum of six months and hopefully expand into a Saturday daytime youth club. A decision on the funding is due on Friday 16th February.
If unsuccessful, the application can be resubmitted almost immediately as a new funding round starts soon. Action: Tim

4. Projects
Football Project
Funding application to Portishead Nautical Trust was unsuccessful but Steve has applied to Quartet's Express Programme and Mall Fountain Fund. Decisions are awaited. Kay directed Steve to the Quartet Sports Fund. Action: Steve
Ann Stobbs has secured cash from BEC as interim funding for the project.
5. Any Other Business
Home Office funding has been secured to support detached youth work in the St Annes and Broomhill dispersal areas. This takes place on Mondays but may be extended to Thursdays also. The dispersal orders were applied as a response to anti-social behaviour around the flats etc. There are issues of bullying and harassment of residents.
The youth work is only one facet of a broad-based approach to this issue which additionally involves input from local Neighbourhood Watch. Local Councillors are very active in this matter.
It is possible that a drugs worker may be deployed to assist the dispersal order detached workers. The drugs worker may additionally be able to come to Wicklea.
Sexual health Work. YP are evidently aware of this and are attending - but often at the wrong times, so they are missing Sally’s clinic.
Additionally, there is a meeting of the Southside Community Youth Project on Tuesday 20th February 10.00-13.00 at the Bristol Tenant Resource Centre in Redcliffe.
6. Date of next meeting
7.30pm, Wednesday 14th March, Wicklea.
