1. Minutes of the last meeting
These were agreed with no matter arising.
2. Wicklea Update
Young Bristol is through to the second round of the Community Assets lottery-funding process.
SP is meeting Trevor Jones and a representative of the Big Lottery Fund on 8th February.
3. Finance
Respect has managed to secure funding of £5,000 thanks to Councillor Barbara Lewis securing this in BCC budget.
A group of BCP members interested in funding matters are meeting immediately after this Respect meeting.
4. Street Based Workers
Future reports will be typed by Tim, who will send them to the Secretary.
There is a lot of overlap between the Street work and the skate project.
The Street Team finds that young people are generally friendly and approachable but confrontation occasionally occurs.
PACT priorities raised at the March BCP meeting were raised with the youth team for their attention. These relate to incidents of ASB and graffiti at Brislington hill shops car park, and littering at Wicklea.
It was noted that there is a graffiti team based at Trinity Road police station.
5. Projects
Football Project
More young people are becoming involved in the football project as the older ones are moved on by a change of youth club focus.
The project is organising a football tournament for April time.
Skateboard Project
The equipment has arrived and invoices have been presented to the treasurer.
In order to complete an "Awards For All" application some additional information is required, including details of Public Liability insurance.
Tim presented a Skateboard Project Vision Statement - see
here.
Publicity may be needed for the Skateboard Project, and this may be sought via the Brislington newsletter.
After launching the Skateboard Project at a fun day, the project workers will consider making a nominal charge for attendance at the project.
6. Counter-Terrorism
Nothing to report apart from a large-scale anti-drugs operation in Broomhill.
7. Any Other Business
None.
7. Date of next meeting
7.30pm, Wednesday 2nd April 2008, Wicklea.
