Michael Gage

The only known postcard of Brislington by Michael Gage is a photograph printed using a relatively modern tri-colour process (not lithograph).

No postal address appears on the postcard but there is a phone number which in the absence of more convenient dating evidence, provides some useful bracketing dates for the publication. The phone number belongs to the STD (Subscriber Trunk Dialling) type which means it can't be earlier than 1958 when that system was introduced. The dialling code represents the Bournemouth area of the south coast of Dorset, and predates the introduction of the number 1 as the digit after the initial 0, which occured in 1995. So this line of evidence provides 1958 as the lower limit of the dating range, and 1995 as the upper limit.
