This picture, which has been printed with the collotype method, is credited to photographer and postcard publisher Fred Little. Its title is 'Arno's Castle, Bristol. Interior of the Roman Bath.'

This is one of a pair of views of this room in a building now demolished, and looks away from the door. A selection of tables and chairs (including a chaise longue against the right-hand wall) are on display for sale in what was then an antiques shop. In the other, matching photograph the same furniture has been swivelled to face the camera. The credit on the back of the postcard reads 'Little & Barber, buyers of Old English Furniture and Works of Art.'

This building is better known nowadays as the Black Castle public house at St Phillips Causeway, and is an eighteenth century Grade 1 listed building. Earliest known picture: printed before 3 June 1918.
