This picture is credited to photographer and postcard publisher Harry Jones of Neath, Glamorganshire, Wales. It seems unlikely this would be the only postcard he produced of Brislington, even if this was the only subject that interested him here (views of the interior are popular with other photographers). But, at the time of writing, this is the only one of which we may be sure. Its title is 'ST CUTHBERTS CHURCH BRISLINGTON.' Earliest known picture: 12 Aug 1911.

The sign outside the church names it as St Cuthbert's Mission Church (the precursor to the red brick church at the top of Sandy Park Road). This building stood between Wick Crescent and what is now Allison Road. The version of the structure depicted here the earlier incarnation of the building that some refer to as a tin tabernacle, before it was enlarged.

Visit our notes for more information about this photographer and postcard publisher, and their work in Brislington.
